Kodak DCS Pro SLR/c - Digital camera - SLR - 13.9 Mpix - body only - supported memory: CF, MMC, SD, Microdrive
Posted by Lupus Fighter at 11:14 AMNow the quality of medium format with the flexibility of 35 mm is available to photographers with CANON EF lenses. The 14-megapixel KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Pro SLR/c Digital Camera, like its cousin the DCS Pro SLR/n, has the highest resolution and widest ISO range of any digital SLR on the market. The DCS Pro SLR/c Digital Camera utilizes a 4536 x 3024-pixel, 12-bit CMOS imager that covers the full 24mm-by-36mm image area of 35mm, so photographers gain the benefits of true wide-angle lenses. This sensor uses advanced High Performance-Low Noise (HPLN) technology, which enables increased sensitivity and reduced noise levels to drive much broader ISO performance. The camera's variable-resolution function enables photographers to choose the image size that best suits their specific workflow-14MP, 6MP, 3MP or even 0.8MP JPEG-only files. The camera boasts a flash sync of 1/180th of a second with a Focal Plane (FP) flash mode up to 1/6000th of a second when using an EX-series Speedlite, and an overall shutter speed range from 1/6000 to 30 seconds. Captured at about 1.7 frames per second, images can be saved as RAW files, normal JPEG files, or KODAK PROFESSIONAL Extended Range Imaging Technology (ERI) JPEG files. With an ERI-JPEG file, a form of picture protection, photographers can enhance (or correct) a shot after it's taken. Those who use DCS RAW, JPEG and ERI-JPEG files can access a fully calibrated ISO range of 6 to 800; those who use DCS RAW files can also access an extended (non-calibrated) range from 1000 to 1600 ISO.The DCS Pro SLR/c Digital Camera also features an infrared remote control for shutter release; a "longer exposure" mode, enabling exposures up to 30 seconds at lower ISO settings (down to 6 ISO); a full resolution RAW image burst depth of ,19 frames using its integrated 512MB RAM buffer; and a "sleep mode, " which conserves battery life. And, Kodak offers free firmware and software upgrades, so your new DCS Pro SLR/c Digital Camera can stay that way.

The FinePix S2 offers a full feature set that's perfect for professional photographers, including a resolution of 6.17 million effective pixels and compatibility with Nikon F-mount lenses as well as a majority of Nikkor AF lenses.
Optics and Resolution
The 6.17 million effective pixels translate to 12 million recorded pixels (4,256 x 2,848), or a 4.5 MB file size, due to Fuji's Super CCD (see below for more info). The FinePix S2 Pro has a Nikon F mount and accepts every AF Nikkor and most manual AI or AI-S Nikkor lenses. In addition, the camera has shutter speeds of 30 seconds to 1/4,000 second, and continuous shooting of approximately 2 frames per second, up to a total of 7 frames. Its wide range of ISO equivalents of 100/160/200/400/800/1,600 allow for picture taking under a variety of challenging lighting conditions.
Fuji's Super CCD
Instead of conventional CCDs with square photodiodes and pixel arrangements, Fuji’s Super CCD has octagonal-shaped photodiodes and pixels situated on 45-degree angles. This "honeycomb" pattern increases sensitivity, allowing pixels to be efficiently packed at maximum density. The area of the photodiode in a half-inch Super CCD with 2 million pixels is about 1.6 times as large as the area offered in the conventional CCD with the same number of pixels. The Super CCD improves overall signal-to-noise ratio and offers a much wider dynamic range.

Picture Styles can be likened to selectable film types for different photographic expression. Frame rate is selectable between 5 and 3 frames per second, and photographers are given finer control over exposure with ISO settings now adjustable by 1/3 stop increments rather than whole stops. A Print/Share button is included and the camera features new advanced PictBridge functionality. The maximum number of images in a folder is increased from 100 to 9,999, while the in-built flash has been upgraded to match the 100,000 shutter cycle durability, an increasingly important feature in the digital age.
Speed and image quality
The EOS 30D features Canon's award winning CMOS sensor technology, with large 6.4µm2 pixels for wide dynamic range with low noise. Any remaining fixed pattern and random noise is dealt with by on-chip noise elimination circuitry. A low-pass filter in front of the sensor reduces false color and moiré effects, while an infrared filter suppresses red fringing caused by sensor reflections and fog. The camera features Canon's DIGIC II processor now found across the digital EOS range. DIGIC II maximizes speed and image quality by processing uncompromisingly complex color rendition algorithms, clearing the buffer at high speed.
EOS: The system
One of the EOS 30D's greatest advantages is the EOS system: compatibility with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses, EX-series Speedlites, and EOS accessories such as the Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1. The EOS 30D's EF-S lens mount allows connection to Canon's range of lighter and wider angle lenses, including the new wide-aperture EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM standard zoom lens. Indicative of Canon's commitment to lens development is the release of the exceptionally fast EF 85mm f1.2L II USM, for low-light and extremely narrow depth of field photography. (Wireless file transmitter and lenses not included--must be purchased separately.) For high-speed processing of lossless RAW images and complete capture-to-print workflow management, the EOS 30D also comes with Canon's latest Digital Photo Professional software.
Battery grip
To extend the EOS 30D's 750-shot (CIPA standard) battery life and increase handling options, the camera is compatible with the BG-E2 battery grip. The BG-E2 takes two Lithium-Ion battery packs for up to 2,200 frames or six AA batteries in the supplied BGM-E2 battery magazine. (Shooting capacity with AA batteries is lower when compared with the Battery Pack BP-511A.) For easy vertical shooting, the BG-E2 provides additional shutter release, main dial, AE lock/FE lock, and AF point selection controls.
Software
As well as the latest Digital Photo Professional RAW image processing software, the EOS 30D comes with Canon EOS Solution Disk, containing the new EOS Utility (integrating remote capture software), plus the latest versions of ZoomBrowser/ImageBrowser and PhotoStitch.
The EOS 30D includes membership of Canon's online photo album, Canon iMAGE Gateway with 100 MB of space for image uploads and photo sharing. (Canon iMAGE Gateway is not available in all European countries.)
Picture Style
Picture Style pre-sets simplify in-camera control over image quality. Picture Style pre-sets can be likened to different film types--each one offering a different color response. Within each easily selectable pre-set, photographers have control over sharpness, contrast, color tone, and saturation. The camera's factory default configuration is set to deliver immediately-usable JPEG images without need for additional menu settings. Picture Style presets applied to a RAW image do not degrade the image in any way and can be revised with Canon's Digital Photo Professional software.
The six pre-sets include:
# Standard: for crisp, vivid images that don't require post-processing
# Portrait: optimizes color tone and saturation and weakens sharpening to achieve attractive skin tones
# Landscape: for punchier greens and blues with stronger sharpening to give a crisp edge to mountain, tree, and building outlines
# Neutral: ideal for post-processing
# Faithful: adjusts color to match the subject color when shot under a color temperature of 5200K
# Monochrome: for black and white shooting with a range of filter effects (yellow, orange, red, and green) and toning effects (sepia, blue, purple, and green)
The User Defined pre-set can be used to store up to three customised pre-sets, or any of the pre-sets available for download from Canon's web site.
DIGIC II
Now found across the EOS range, DIGIC II is a purpose-built, dedicated image processor responsible for the high speed calculations necessary in order to providing exceptionally accurate color reproduction in real time. Canon's second generation imaging engine, DIGIC II performs the duties of a number of separate processing units to speed processing, save space, and optimize battery life.
To avoid the trade off faced by other manufacturers between camera responsiveness and image quality, Canon has created a processor so fast it can read, process, compress, and write image data back to the buffer between exposures. This allows for longer continuous bursts at maximum frame rates before the buffer fills. Moreover, each image can be subjected to the full complex processing algorithms required in order to deliver superb image quality.
CMOS
Canon's award winning CMOS technology is one of the company's key competitive advantages. With noise reduction circuitry at each pixel site, Canon's CMOS sensors have lower noise and lower power consumption characteristics than CCD sensors.
CCD sensors use a bucket relay system to transfer each pixel's accumulated electrical charge to a corresponding gutter. The operation is time consuming and draws considerable power, which limits battery life and generates unwanted heat, further increasing noise and lowering image quality.
By contrast, signal conversion in Canon's CMOS sensors is handled by the individual amplifiers at each pixel site. Unnecessary charge transfer operations are avoided, vastly speeding up the process of getting signal to the image processor. Noise generation is reduced and power consumption limited.
Digital Photo Professional Software
Digital Photo Professional software provides high-speed processing of lossless RAW images. Processing with Digital Photo Professional allows real-time display and immediate application of image adjustments, giving control over RAW image variables such as white balance, dynamic range, exposure compensation, and color tone. The camera JPEG images can be recorded in sRGB or Adobe RGB color space, and the Digital Photo Professional application supports sRGB, Adobe RGB and Wide Gamut RGB color spaces. An ICC (International Colour Consortium) profile attaches automatically to RAW images converted to TIFF or JPEG images. This allows faithful reproduction of colors in software applications that support ICC profiles, such as Adobe Photoshop. For improved efficiency, a set of image adjustments can be saved as a recipe and applied to multiple images.

The World's Largest Selection of Digital Specific Lenses
The versatility of the Olympus E-System comes from delivering the largest selection of "Designed-for-Digital" lenses--more than any other manufacturer to date. Olympus's Zuiko Digital Specific Lenses come in a wide range of focal lengths for achieving the best image result, and impress with their spectacular clarity and edge-to-edge sharpness.
Most other digital SLR cameras still use many traditional 35mm film lenses on digital bodies. But since those lenses are based on designs for film and not for pixels, they deliver insufficient light at the edges of a digital camera's image sensor. This can result in reduced sharpness and color definition, particularly when shooting with large apertures and wide-angle lenses. The E500 does not have this problem, because it accommodates the full line of interchangeable Zuiko Digital Lenses, which are designed for digital capture with smart technology that allows the lenses to communicate with the camera to ensure the best possible image quality.
Olympus dedicated digital optics coupled with the Evolt E500 render sharpness and contrast more consistently at any given f-stop. The lenses are matched to the Four Thirds System standard image sensor for the optimal balance between image quality, camera, and lens size, and expandability. With a wide array of digital specific lenses to choose from, it's easy to select the ideal lens to bring along when you don't want to lug a lot of heavy, bulky gear.
The E500 outfit includes a Zuiko digital 14-45mm f3.5-f5.6 lens (equivalent to 28mm-90mm in 35mm photography) that perfectly matches the imager so light strikes the sensor directly to ensure rich, accurate colors and edge-to-edge sharpness. Its 3.2x zoom covers the range most frequently used in ordinary photography and weighs just 10 ounces (285 grams) offering users an extremely dynamic, portable everyday-use zoom. Close-ups as near as 15 inches (38 centimeters) are possible throughout the zoom range. It also comes with a 40-150mm f3.5-4.5 Zuiko lens.
Easy-to-Use, Easy-to-Handle Light and Ergonomic Design
Creating an affordable digital SLR that most anyone can pick up and start to use is about making it easier to operate. That means menus that make sense and buttons on the body that are easy to understand and operate; adding automatic settings for every imaginable situation; making the LCD big and bright enough so you can review a shot without squinting; and making it less of a chore to get images out of the camera and into your computer or printer. Moreover, at just 5.09 x 3.72 x 2.59 inches (W x H x D) and only 15.3 ounces, the Evolt E500 is light and compact enough to comfortably shoot with all day.
You don't need a degree in photography to shoot like a pro with the E500. Just take it home, charge the Li-ion battery with the included charger, and begin taking photos. Select from one of the camera's 25 Exposure Modes (Easy, Basic, and Creative) that make it easy to get the results you want, whenever and wherever you want them.
To access the Easy Modes, simply turn the mode dial on the top of the camera to "Scene" and choose from a range of 15 pre-programmed Scene Select modes to achieve the optimal results for Night Scenes, Children, and more.
Every Scene Select mode on the Evolt E500 provides a sample image and a description of what is happening to achieve the desired result. For example, choosing the Landscape setting reveals a sample of a landscape photo, and a text description of what the mode is displayed on the large, easy-to-read 2.5-inch LCD.
The Flexibility of the Most Feature Rich Camera in its Class
Once one feature is mastered, there are a seemingly endless number of other features just waiting to be explored. Because the E500 is designed for the ultimate user-friendly experience, you can choose to let the camera make all the decisions, or take control for a new level of customization and performance.

Features:
- 48-frame burst in JPEG and 22-frame burst in RAW
- Customizable in-camera file names--particularly useful for agencies and photo libraries
- Captures images on CF or SD cards
- 8.2-megapixel CCD captures enough detail for photo-quality 16 x 22-inch prints
- 2.5-inch, 230,000-pixel poly-silicon LCD display with 170-degree angle of view, both vertically and horizontally
The EOS-1D Mark II N is an upgrade of the award-winning EOS-1D Mark II. Still featuring 8.2-megapixel performance at 8.5 frames per second, the upgraded camera has a higher performance buffer to deliver a 48 frame burst in JPEG and 22 frame burst in RAW. LCD monitor size increases from 2.0 inches to 2.5 inches, and dual CF and SD memory card slots provide for separate RAW and JPEG recording. Color Matrix and parameter settings are replaced with Canon's new Picture Style--6 pre-sets that simplify in-camera control over image optimization and processing.
Exceptional image quality is assured with an APS-H size (28.7 x 19.1 millimeters) CMOS sensor and high performance DIGIC II processor. The EOS-1D Mark II N also features 45-point Auto Focus and a start-up time of 0.2 seconds. Its wide 100-1600 ISO speed range is expandable to L:50 and H:3200.
First choice of professional agencies
Launched in January 2004, the EOS-1D Mark II fast became Europe's best selling professional D-SLR camera. It secured the major share of sports and photojournalism worldwide, with the world's leading wire agencies such as Reuters, Getty Images, and AFP choosing Canon professional products for their photographers.
New screen
For improved image review and menu readability, the EOS-1D Mark II N is fitted with a larger, brighter 2.5-inch 230K pixel poly-silicon TFT LCD monitor, giving photographers a significantly larger viewing area. The improved screen has twice the number of backlighting LEDs so that it retains brightness and visibility throughout a wide 170-degree angle of view, both vertically and horizontally. This makes it easy to view images when camera is mounted in a fixed position. With image playback, the magnified view can now be viewed straightaway on any selected AF point, and magnification is possible during the quick review immediately after image capture.
Meeting photographers' needs, listening to the market
The EOS-1D Mark II N incorporates a host of improvements to enhance performance, operation and speed. To prevent shooting disruption, new folders are now automatically created when image number 9999 is reached in the current folder. A new memory card selection short cut makes it fast and easy to switch between card slots when choosing recording location. A Low Level Format option executes secure and permanent deletion of SD card data and increases SD card write speeds.
When shooting RAW and JPEG simultaneously, images can now be recorded separately onto a different memory card (CF or SD). In-camera file names are now customizable: Users can decide the first four characters of the filename and the camera will append the 4 digit image number--a feature particularly useful for agencies and photo libraries dealing with memory cards from multiple photographers.
Ready-to-use images as standard
New Picture Style pre-sets simplify in-camera control over image quality. The camera's factory default configuration delivers more immediately usable JPEG images without need for additional menu settings. Picture Style pre-sets can be likened to different film types--each one offering a different color response. Within each easily selectable pre-set, photographers have control over sharpness, contrast, color tone, and saturation.
The pre-sets include:
* Standard--for crisp, vivid images that don't require post-processing;
* Portrait--optimizes color tone and saturation and weakens sharpening to achieve attractive skin tones;
* Landscape--for punchier greens and blues with stronger sharpening to give a crisp edge to mountain, tree, and building outlines;
* Neutral--ideal for post-processing;
* Faithful--adjusts color to match the subject color when shot under a color temperature of 5200K;
* Monochrome--for black and white shooting with a range of filter effects (yellow, orange, red, and green) and toning effects (sepia, blue, purple, and green).
Additionally, 3 user defined entries allows the possibility to create additional variations on the in-camera styles or install additional custom Picture Style files. Additional custom Picture Style files may be downloaded from Canon's web site.
Picture Style replaces internal image processing previously controlled by setting processing parameters and color matrix. Picture Style is also supported by the supplied Digital Photo Professional and RAW Image Task software.
Exceptional image quality, total reliability
Exceptionally high quality images are assured due to the combination of Canon's DIGIC II processor and 2nd generation CMOS sensor, which features an on-chip noise elimination circuit to reduce the creation of fixed pattern and random noise. A low-pass filter placed in front of the sensor reduces false color and moire effects, while the infrared filter suppresses red fringing caused by sensor reflections and fog.
The EOS-1D Mark II N has a shutter durability of 200,000 cycles, and a weather resistant magnesium-alloy casing with over 70 dust- and moisture-resistant seals protects the camera.
A new Auto option is available on the Noise reduction menu screen, which offers automatic detection and correction when necessary of noise levels in images with exposures of 1 second or longer.
Compatibility and accessories
The EOS-1D Mark II N is compatible with all Canon EF lenses and the entire EX series Speedlite flash range. Canon's E-TTL II flash system optimizes flash exposures by linking distance information from the camera/lens system to the 21-zone evaluative or averaged metering readings from the pre-flash.
The camera's focusing screens are interchangeable; an optional new "Super Precision Matte" Ec-S focusing screen enables easier manual focusing with fast lenses.
With the optional Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1 (not included--must be purchased separately), photographers can work cable-free as images transfer automatically through a wireless LAN to a computer in seconds . The Maxxum 7D is the world's first digital SLR camera with body-integral Anti-Shake Technology and CCD Shift Mechanism, bringing an exciting new level of performance to Maxxum AF SLR lenses including macro, wideangle, zoom, telephoto, and super telephoto focal lengths.
This new technology reduces unintentional image blur caused by camera shake when taking photos with slow shutter speeds in dimly lit or twilight scenes, in natural light with a telephoto lens, and with macro shots, without relying on a higher ISO setting or the aid of a flash or tripod. Anti-shake instantly and precisely shifts the CCD to compensate for camera motion, responding quickly to erratic shaking caused by the photographer's hands as well as broad, slow-swaying motions of the camera body.
The Maxxum 7D's award winning anti-shake technology was selected as "European Photo Innovation of the Year 2004-2005" by EISA and provides the equivalent correction effect of a shutter speed 2 to 3 steps faster. The anti-shake function can be switched on or off as desired. When active, an anti-shake indicator is displayed in the viewfinder.
High-Definition, 2.5-inch Color LCD Monitor
The 2.5-inch LCD monitor's large screen and ultra-fine 207,000-pixel resolution make it easy to check the details of images after shooting. Capable of simultaneous image and histogram display, the monitor can also be set to display images with overexposed and underexposed areas highlighted for quick identification. In addition, automatic focus-point detection with 10x enlargement makes it easy to check for correct focus, and you can simultaneously display all of the frames in an auto-exposure-bracketing series to facilitate "best shot" selection.
CxProcess III Image Optimization
Konica Minolta's exclusive CxProcess III technology brings out the best from the Maxxum 7D's 6.1-million effective pixel APS-C size CCD. CxProcess III optimizes color saturation, edge sharpness, and highlight/shadow contrast to ensure that colors are rendered true-to-life. CxProcess III also suppresses noise during slow-shutter imaging, and assures rich textural detail and spatial perspective for vivid yet natural reproduction of skin tones, clouds, and other subjects with delicate surface textures.
High-Performance, High-Speed Autofocusing
The Maxxum 7D incorporates a central, cross hair type, 9-point and 8-line AF sensor array providing high-precision autofocusing and high-performance subject tracking of moving subjects. This wide-area coverage gives you great creative flexibility in how you frame your subject. The AF system features both Predictive Focus Control and Omni-Dimensional Subject Tracking for high-speed focus adjustment, making it ideal for fleeting moments or sports photography.
Four focusing modes ensure optimum performance in a wide range of situations--AF-S for single-shot AF, AF-C for continuous AF, and AF-A that automatically switches from single-shot to continuous AF when it detects subject movement. In addition, the Maxxum 7D features the same AF/MF control layout featured on the Maxxum 7. Another focusing option that is particularly useful for macro and portrait photography is the Maxxum 7D's Direct Manual Focus, which combines the advantages of AF operation with the ability to focus manually whenever the shutter button is pressed halfway down.
Advanced LSI Image Processing
A newly developed Advanced LSI (Large Scale Integration) image processing engine in the Maxxum 7D enables high-speed processing of large quantities of data and improves image processing at high-sensitivity settings, ensuring reduced image noise while retaining high picture quality. This combination also helps ensure a handling response similar to the smooth-shooting rhythm associated with conventional 35mm film SLRs.
High-Performance, Through-the-Lens Viewfinder
A spherical acute matte focusing screen is used for accurate and bright critical focusing assessment. The optical glass pentaprism viewfinder features a 0.9X magnification and 95% field-of-view for easy scene evaluation and composition, even when using small-aperture telephoto lenses.
Menu & Navigation Display
The LCD monitor also works as a Navigation Display enabling seamless operation with clear, concise camera settings displayed along with comprehensive shooting information indicated in large, easy-to-read text. The display automatically switches from horizontal to vertical format camera position change and switches off as you look into the viewfinder.
Intuitive Operation with Dial-&-Lever System
The Maxxum 7D inherits its dial and lever operation system from the world-renowned Maxxum 7, a 35mm AF SLR highly regarded for its user friendliness. The Maxxum 7D's intuitive operation makes it ideal for users moving up to the new, digital model from its 35mm predecessor. The exposure compensation dial and easy to use exposure mode dials are also borrowed from the Maxxum 7, making it comfortably familiar and helping users respond quickly to changing shooting conditions or picture opportunities. A separate white-balance dial is provided for quick, easy white balance control.
High-Speed Continuous Advance with 128MB Buffer Memory
The Maxxum 7D enables high-speed continuous shooting of up to nine consecutive frames at up to three frames per second in both RAW and RAW+JPEG modes. Additionally, the 7D allows continuous shooting of up to twelve 3008x2000 JPEG images at the extra-fine image quality setting and fifteen JPEG images the same size at the fine image quality setting. These high-speed shooting capabilities are ideal for capturing momentary expressions, sports, or fleeting action shots while retaining high picture quality.
RAW+JPEG Simultaneous Recording
The Maxxum 7D can shoot either RAW or JPEG images or both combined with the simultaneous RAW+JPEG dual-format capture mode for improved, post-shoot workflow. Simultaneous RAW and JPEG data recording gives you much greater freedom in how you process your images. By saving the image in both formats, you can quickly display the JPEG version as a reference when you edit and process the RAW data for final output as a beautiful gallery-quality print suitable for framing and permanent display.
Comprehensive Image Adjustment Controls
The Maxxum 7D offers a wide array of image adjustment capabilities that will satisfy even the most demanding digital imaging enthusiast.
Image Correction is a five-step fine control adjustment for sharpness, contrast, color saturation, and hue. White Balance settings include a full auto mode plus six fine-tunable presets, as well as three custom settings for precise white balance in difficult lighting conditions. The Maxxum 7D gives photographers a professional level of color control with numerical setting of color temperature over a range from 2500K to 9900K in 100K increments. Finally, the 7D's Zone Matching is a new technology that allows the precise reproduction of tonal gradations in highlights and shadows; this is essential in difficult shooting conditions with predominant highlights and it also helps ensure noise-free low-light images.
Three Metering Systems
The Maxxum 7D gives you a choice of 14-segment honeycomb-pattern metering, center-weighted average metering, and spot metering. The 14-segment honeycomb pattern metering is particularly versatile, and employs new metering algorithms to ensure beautiful results in extremely high-contrast or backlit situations. Additionally, exposure compensation can be set in 1/3- or 1/2-step increments, offering even finer control.
Six Exposure Modes
In addition to aperture-priority, shutter-priotiry, and manual exposure modes, the Maxxum 7D features three user-programmable memory settings the store a wide range of settings for instant recall. Its Green Program setting offers full-auto shooting ease, while the standard Program combines the convenience of programmed AE and creative control with instant access to aperture-priority (PA mode) or shutter-priority (PS mode).
Advanced Distance Integration (ADI) Flash Metering
Advanced Distance Integration is available with any Maxxum D-Series lens. By comparing information obtained from the lens' built-in distance encoder with pre-flash metering data, ADI calculates the optimum exposure settings and flash brightness needed to obtain a beautiful image--even if your subject is standing in front of a very dark, light, or reflective background.
Powerful, Versatile, and Creative Flash Performance
The Maxxum 7D supports full-featured flash photography with the built-in flash as well as Konica Minoltas D-series flash units like the 3600HS(D) and 5600HS(D) allowing you to take advantage of TTL flash, bounce flash, and rear-curtain flash synchronization as well as wireless, high-speed flash for advanced off-camera setups for pro-level flash shooting.
Mirror Lockup Shutter-Release Delay
When using long shutter speeds with the camera mounted on a tripod, this highly sought-after SLR feature delays shutter release for 2 seconds after mirror lockup to eliminate the effect of vibration caused by pressing the shutter-release button or during mirror lift.
Depth-of-Field Preview
Another very desirable SLR feature is the Maxxum 7D's depth-of-field preview. This gives you the ability to evaluate the zone of sharp focus within your image at a given lens aperture; making it easy to check subject and background focus or see the extent of sharp detail in macro photography.
Highly Durable and Reliable Magnesium-Alloy Body
The Maxxum 7D is compact and stylish as well as ruggedly built. The robust magnesium-alloy front body panel and base plate enhance the camera's durability and reliability.
Optional Vertical Control Grip
The dedicated VC-7D Vertical Control Grip connects to the camera body and has a dedicated shutter-release button, front and rear control dials, AF/MF control button, AE lock button, and AF area selector button, for comfortable handling and confident operation in either horizontal or vertical shooting situations. Additionally, the VC-7D allows two lithium-ion batteries to be used simultaneously for an enhanced power supply. And for optimum convenience and versatility, the VC-7D allows AA batteries or standard AA Ni-MH batteries to be used. (This accessory is not included and must be purchased separately.)
Complete Line of Maxxum AF Lenses
The greatest advantage of an SLR camera lies in the ability to change lenses to suit a particular subject or shooting style. The Maxxum 7D is engineered to take full advantage of the superior optical technologies and powerfully versatile focal lengths incorporated into the Maxxum system of interchangeable AF lenses. Aspherical optics, AD (Anomalous Dispersion) glass, and multiple lens coatings, for example, all contribute to the beautifully crisp, high-contrast images Maxxum lenses are known for.
This kit comes with the AF 28-100mm f3.5-5.6 zoom lens. This compact and lightweight 3.5x standard zoom lens covers from a wide-angle focal length of 28mm to a focal length of 100mm. It delivers high image quality by employing a single aspheric element.
